Provenance: private collection, Padua. Anesi was highly successful with his idyllic landscapes among collectors in Rome and Florence. His compositions of ruins were inspired by Giovanni Paolo Pannini. In 1761 Anesi collaborated with several colleagues on a fresco cycle for the Villa Albani near Rome.
